Jiří Pohl started on the railway as a locomotive engineer on steam locomotives. He studied electric traction at the University of Transport in Žilina. From 1975 to 2000 he worked as a designer of electric vehicle equipment and later as a chief designer at ČKD. Since 2000 he has been working for Siemens Mobility in the Engineering Department. After years of working in the first line of project assignments, he has been working on cross-cutting strategic development projects and improving the professional qualifications of Siemens Mobility's Engineering development staff. He also teaches at several universities, publishes in professional journals and speaks at conferences on the future of transportation.
